Epson TM-L90 Ethernet Setup & Troubleshooting Guide

This guide helps diagnose and resolve common network connectivity issues with the Epson TM-L90 Ethernet printer.

Step 1. Verify the Hardware Connection

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on.

  2. Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to:

    • The printer

    • The router or network switch

  3. Check the Ethernet port LEDs.

  4. USB cable is not connected to the printer.

LED StatusMeaning
Link LED ONPhysical network connection is established.
Activity LED BlinkingNetwork traffic is detected.
No LEDsThe printer is not connected to the network.

If no LEDs are lit:

  • Try a different Ethernet cable.

  • Try another router or switch port.

  • Verify the router or switch is powered on.

Step 2. Print the Network Status Sheet

The Network Status Sheet displays the printer's current network configuration, including its IP address.

Using the Push Button

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on and in the Ready state.

  2. Locate the Ethernet interface on the back of the printer.

  3. Press and hold the Push button on the Ethernet interface for approximately 3 seconds.

  4. Release the button when the printer begins printing.

The printer will print a Network Status Sheet containing information such as:

  • IP Address

  • Subnet Mask

  • Default Gateway

  • DHCP Status

  • MAC Address

  • Link Speed

  • Ethernet Interface Model

  • Firmware Version

Example:

IP Address: 192.168.1.125
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP: Enable
MAC Address: 00:26:AB:12:34:56

Note: The location of the Push button may vary depending on the Ethernet interface model (UB-E03, UB-E04, UB-E05, etc.), but it is typically located next to the Ethernet connector and status LEDs.

Step 3. Verify the IP Address

Valid IP Address

A valid IP address looks similar to:

192.168.1.125

The printer and Clover POS should be on the same network.

Invalid IP Address (169.254.x.x)

If the printer reports an address such as:

169.254.25.18

the printer was unable to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.

Possible causes include:

  • Ethernet cable disconnected

  • Faulty Ethernet cable

  • Router or switch is not responding

  • DHCP is disabled on the network

Correct the network issue before continuing.

No IP Address Displayed

If no IP address appears on the Network Status Sheet:

  1. Verify the Ethernet cable is connected.

  2. Check that the Link LED is illuminated.

  3. Restart the printer.

  4. Print the Network Status Sheet again.

  5. If the problem continues, restore the printer's network settings to factory defaults.

Step 4. Test Network Connectivity

From a computer connected to the same network, verify that the printer is reachable.

Windows

Open Command Prompt and run:

ping <printer IP>

Example:

ping 192.168.1.125

macOS

Open Terminal and run:

ping 192.168.1.125

If replies are received, the printer is reachable.

If the request times out:

  • Verify the IP address.

  • Confirm the computer is on the same subnet.

  • Check firewall settings.

  • Restart the printer and router.

Step 5. Open the Printer's Web Configuration Page

If the printer responds to ping:

  1. Open a web browser.

  2. Enter the printer's IP address.

Example:

http://192.168.1.125

If prompted, log in using the printer's administrator credentials.

For many Epson Ethernet interfaces, the default credentials are:

  • Username: epson

  • Password: epson

If the configuration page opens, the printer's Ethernet interface is operating correctly.

If the page cannot be reached:

  • Verify the IP address.

  • Verify the printer responds to ping.

  • Try another computer.

  • Check for VLANs or network isolation.

Step 6. Verify DHCP or Static IP Configuration

You should use DHCP, allowing the router to automatically assign an IP address.

Step 7. Change the Printer to DHCP

If the printer has an incorrect Static IP address, switch it back to DHCP.

Method 1 – Using the Printer's Web Configuration (Recommended)

  1. Print the Network Status Sheet to determine the current IP address.

  2. Open a web browser.

  3. Enter the printer's IP address.

Example:

http://192.168.1.125
  1. Log in if prompted.

Default credentials (if unchanged):

  • Username: epson

  • Password: epson

  1. Navigate to the network configuration page. Depending on the Ethernet interface, this may be labeled:

  • TCP/IP

  • Network

  • Wired LAN

  • IPv4 Configuration

  1. Locate the IP Address configuration.

  2. Select:

Obtain IP Address Automatically (DHCP)

or

IP Address Setting = Auto

  1. Click Apply or Save.

  2. Restart the printer if prompted.

  3. Print another Network Status Sheet to verify that the printer has obtained a new IP address.

Important: After switching to DHCP, the printer may receive a different IP address. Update your POS system or application to use the new IP address.

Method 2 – Using EpsonNet Config

If the printer's web page cannot be reached:

  1. Install and launch EpsonNet Config.

  2. Search for the printer.

  3. Select the printer.

  4. Open TCP/IP or IPv4 Settings.

  5. Select DHCP or Obtain an IP Address Automatically.

  6. Save the settings.

  7. Restart the printer.

  8. Print another Network Status Sheet to verify the new IP address.

Step 8. Verify Your POS or Computer Configuration

If the printer responds to ping but printing still fails:

  • Verify the application is configured with the correct printer IP address.

  • Remove and re-add the printer if necessary.

  • Restart the POS application after changing printer settings.

Step 9. Restore Factory Network Settings

If the printer still cannot be found:

  1. Restore the printer's network settings to factory defaults.

  2. Restart the printer.

  3. Enable DHCP.

  4. Print a new Network Status Sheet.

  5. Configure the printer again.
